Tour Plan

Day 1 – Casablanca > Chefchaouen

Arrival into Casablanca. Your journey into your senses begins with a drive from Casablanca to Chefchaouen, enjoy the scenic drive as the flat plains and rolling hills transform into the mountainous landscape of the Rif range stopping in a selected restaurant for lunch, and viewing breathtaking villages. Welcome dinner in Chefchouen.

Day 2 – Chefchaouen

Today we are in the Blue City of Chefchaouen. Mostly untouched since the 15th century, Chefchaouen offers a relaxed atmosphere with some of the friendliest people in the country.

Day 3 – Chefchaouen > Fes

Early morning to be treated with an extra quiet hour to wander the blue-painted streets, before we drive to the amazing city of Fes. We will travel through many villages, African landscapes, markets, and Romans ruins.

Day 4 – Fes

The oldest of the Imperial cities in Morocco, Fes is home to the most complete medina in the Arab World, my very favourite one. Much of the city has remained untouched over the centuries, resulting in a more authentic medieval experience. The last King of Granada, Boabdil, spent his last year of his life in this breathtaking city. Don’t miss out the sunset in one of the live music venues in the medina.

Day 5 – Fes > Midelt

Today we are travelling South heading over the Middle Atlas, through a cedar forest, and into the desert region where you will spot families of Barbary macaque monkeys and driving to the desert city of Midelt know as the “Apple City” the nearby River Moulouya allows for orchards to grow in the desert. Stay overnight in a charming French Villa with the most classical Moroccan decoration.

Day 6– Midelt > Merzouga

We continue our adventure into the desert, along the road you’ll see fortified houses know a ksars built by merchants to protect precious wares like gold, salt, and spices. Soon you will see in the distance , an extensive sand dune sea. The dunes, some more than 200 m tall, change color depending on time of day. You will camp in the desert where you will enjoy traditional Berber music.                                      

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner at the desert camp.

Day 7 – Merzouga

Rise early to witness a Saharan sunrise, before exploring more of the desert. Head south to Khemliya to explore this traditional Saharan village.

Day 8 – Merzouga > Ait Benhaddou

We are continuing our journey to the medieval site of Ait Benhaddou, a protected UNESCO site the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and upon a time, held an important position along the trans-Saharan trade route between Marrakech, Ouarzazate, and the southern desert.

Day 9 – Ait Benhaddou > Marrakech

This morning we will head up and over the High Atlas, looking out for the highest peak, Mount Toubkal. Descending the north facing slopes of the High Atlas, you will notice a dramatic change in climate and landscape. After all the tranquility of the mountains and the desert, soon you will be in the midst of vibrant Marrakech.

Day 10 – Marrakech

For your first day in the Jewel of  Morocco ‘Red City” of Marrakech: The 1000-year old red sandstone city walls and buildings. Marrakech has Berber rather than Arab roots and was once an important trading capital for tribes of the Atlas Mountains. Today we will visit the medina an unforgettable life experience, exploring this fascinating world of shops, markets, and hidden places.

Day 11 – Marrakech

Start your day with an stunning sunrise view of the city. Find yourself around Marrakech’s bustling Jemaa el -Fna Square: the souks market, the Koutoubia mosque and the Gardens to the west and the Kasbah. As the evening progresses Jemaa el-Fna comes alive with musicians and storytellers, acrobats and dancers, and even snake charmers. Wander the many rows of food stalls serving anything from meals to fruit drinks.

Day 12 – Marrakech > Essaouira

After breakfast we are making our way west to the Atlantic coast and to the laid-back beach town of Essaouira. The route along the way takes over extensive, rolling plains and through endemic argan forests. We will arrive at the port city of this charming village, a nice contrast to the vibrant Marrakech

Day 13 – Essaouria

Today we will explore the UNESCO-protected medina before making your way to the windswept beach. Back to town in the evening to enjoy a meal of freshly caught seafood dinner together.

Day 14 – Casablanca

Head to Casablanca via the coastal route, stopping along the way in one of my favourite towns, Safi. Depending on your flight time, you may want to explore a bit more of Casablanca before heading to the airport – you can follow in the footsteps of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart at Rick’s Café. Lunch together to celebrate such a wonderful time in Morocco.
